Backbone Blog
Welcome to the inner circle... for now we're here to converse publicly for the benefit of Blake and Lavinia while they are in China. Perhaps later, this will be a link we give to our friends and family so they can have a taste of our day-to-day. Maybe customers too... Let's take it slow. Post and comment anything you want.

We're So Lucky!
We just are. A gang of Lucky!
Everyone is doing such a good job, getting along, happy little piggies. And lots of support, give and take.
Dolly's due tonight; maybe Sam Jones, too. Hope so. BJ has an art show tonight! Watercolors at the museum.
Tonya's still here, doing great. B Gardner loves her, and Holli is content to chill alone, so all's well on that front. The animals are fine, the chicken make eggs (no babies yet.) The teenagers are mostly all misbehaving. Oh well.

Kenny Acord
Blake and Vin-- I am hoping you remember to mention Kenny in your prayers--if I can get a photo I will post it here so monks can see him and offer their help and guidance.
Oh man. It's really so sad.
I'm sending a donation in our names to the cancer center as requested below.
Obituary
Kenton Russell “Kenny” Acord
Kenny Acord lost his year-long battle with cancer on June 30, 2006 at his home in Flagstaff. He is survived by his true love and partner, Deeann Tracy; his parents, Bobby and Anna Acord of Marshall, VA; his sister and her husband, Leanna and “Chip” Willard of Wilmington, NC and so many other dear friends and relatives.
Kenny was born in Alhambra, CA on March 1, 1970 and raised in Marshall, VA. After graduating from Fauquier High School in Warrenton, VA in 1988, he earned a degree in communications from East Carolina University. In 1996, he moved from Wilmington, NC to Flagstaff, where he worked as a river guide for several years. Kenny was intrigued with the southwest and studied anthropology/archeology at Northern Arizona University. He completed his master’s degree in May, 2005, earning top honors.
Kenny was employed by the National Park Service as an Archeologist at Navajo National Monument.
He was an avid outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed hiking, camping, and all of nature’s wonders. Kenny enjoyed a great love of music, had an insatiable appetite for reading, and was an accomplished photographer. His passion for sports was legendary, both as a player and spectator.
He will be remembered as a compassionate, caring and very loving person. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to Johns Hopkins University for Biliary Cancer Research, c/o Dr. Pedram Argani, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Weinberg/Room 2242, 401 Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21231-2410.

Compliance Accomplished!!
He came, he saw, he left. And he never even looked at a file folder full of documentation. Not once.
He was rilly rilly nice (as per usual) and helpful and cool.
No sweat!

Yeah, so, The Liquor Guy...
Whatever! He never showed. I (we) waited 11-3, when a third phone call bore fruit...He's all, "It's tomorrow!!" through a crackle of cell phone. I didn't believe him.
"Hello?" I said to silence. Oh great.
He says hello and I have a weird urge to test his connection (it really seems like the call is gonna be dropped any second) but also there's this sprinkling of me being sprung over the mistake plus feeling annoyed by people who use cell phones in crackly places and so I want to bug him a little.
"Hello???" I said again and again...
"Can you hear me now??? IT'S TOMORROW!!!" He hollered. (holla!)
So friggin' tomorrow.
So, alright!
